     May 24th was a clear spring day, but the clouds 
     
     that had been forecast caused members to hastily set 
     
     up a tent, and it was here that Muriel Harper (Ollie's 
     
     wife) took the entries, and passed them on to the 
     
     "squad lister' and scorekeeper. There were 19 
     
     entries, and, with a single field, the eight squads 
     
    
   
   
    
     took a good portion of the day to finish. The winner 
     
     and runner-up took prizes in each class as follows:

     To add to the festivities of the day, the 
     
     Island's first 'bear trap' was shot. The 'bear trap' 
     
     was becoming a tradition at major skeet shoots for its 
     
     challenge and diversification. Used as a money-maker, 
     
     it involved taking individual shots from a set 
     
     distance, behind a stationary trap, (a’la Belvidere, 
     
     Newstead) at .25 a miss, with the Club supplying the 
     
     ammunition. A shooter could go at it as long as he 
     
     wanted, and the long run of the day took the prize. 
     
     On this day the merchandise prize went to Ralph
