trapshooting clubs that existed in Charlottetown, half a century before, were all but forgotten. Glydon Willis had often suggested an attempt be made at winter shooting, but the thoughts of an unplowed side road, shovelling, and no clubhouse failed to excite the minds of other members. As December arrived, meetings continued in the planning for 1955. The Club directors agreed that it would be interesting to try an off-season event, and suggested that Boxing Day might be the time to try it. A 'turkey shoot’ was organized, and, considering the weather was cold with little snow, 27 members made it an outstanding success. Five 15-lb. turkeys were the top prizes for Classes A, B, C, D, (and a special 22 cal. pistol shoot set up and run by Ralph Jenkins.) Runners-up received bags of gum drops.

The advancement of the game of skeet shooting had a further evolutionary effect on shotguns. Almost every make and model of repeating shotguns was now available with a skeet choke option, giving testimony to the popularity of the game. Many gun owners were taking the alternative of installing one of the popular selective choking devices on the muzzle end of their favorite gun. The two most popular at the Charlottetown Gun Club were the manually changed Poly- Choke and the tubed recoil reducing Cutts Compensator.
