of hot meals at the clubhouse. On the Island scene highlights would be the 1980 Summer Games, when six teams from across the Island competed--the gold medal going to a Sherwood-Parkdale team (462 x 500) comprised of Bill Morrell, Roger Giddings, Angus and Glennie MacEachern, and Doug Wood. ‘Then in February of 1981 becoming the first club in Canada to shoot an event of registered doubles...a new National Skeet Shooting Association competition consisting of twenty- five shots taken as doubles from every station except # eight.
In February, 1981, a criminal effort was made to totally destroy the clubhouse. Blankets and cloth were soaked in stove oil and ignited on the floor. But for some strange reason, after a time the fire burned out leaving a bad odor and oily smell that remained for months. The individual (a neighbour) who made the attempt was later caught by the R.C.M.P., charged, and sentenced--hopefully ending a long series of breaks.
