the Beck family living in the community of Little Miln. Vere was only a young boy at that time. These are just a few examples of what they were able to find online. Just how much that told us will be evident when you read the book.

Ivan has contributed in several other ways too. The most obvious example is the Beck Bulletin web site at www. beckbulletin.ca; about 87 editions have been published. Ivan posts the newsletter on the website and then notifies his readers by email; again demonstrating the advantages of the web and email. Ivan has been the editor for all these editions, with some web support from his daughter, Gwen, and son-in-law, Rod.

Ivan has also contributed many of the biographies in various edi- tions of the “Vere Beck Family Biographies.” Now with Vere’s own biography he has tackled the cornerstone of our genealogy. It con- tains the definitive biography of Vere Beck and it has been written by Ivan with some help from John Marfleet and Clive Killick. I believe that Ivan’s contributions to our family are enormous and cannot be overstated!

John Marfleet and Clive Killick are also noteworthy in their con- tributions to this biography of Vere. They have made individual con- tributions and also synergistic contributions. Our family has been enhanced by their contributions, friendship and being our Reunion speakers. The Internet and email has made it possible to obtain a great deal more information than would have been possible other- wise.
