John remembered hearing stories about Vere’s move to Prince Edward Island and Paul produced this ink line drawing of St Paulinus Church for the 1993 edition of the Vere Beck biographies.

Jim also looked in the phone book for the name, Marfleet, hoping to gain more information about Vere’s wife, Elizabeth Sarah Marfleet. This led to John Marfleet in Leicester, England, the editor of the Mar- fleet Society Newsletter. Barb wrote to John asking about a possible connection of the Marfleet and Beck families. John replied enclosing a copy of the Marfleet family tree showing an Elizabeth Sarah Mar- fleet marrying Vere Beck. Progress! Between Jim and John they were able to discover that Vere’s mother was a Killick, which led to a meet- ing in 2005 between Jim and Clive Killick, Secretary of the Killick Society. John Marfleet has attended three Beck reunions over the years, and Clive attended the last one in 2008. Both John and Clive have given keynote speeches at our reunions and have been extreme-
