the Queen Consort of King George IV of Britain. It was a popular name in the Murray Harbour area at that time. Not very much is known about Caroline herself. She married John Penny and they had 4 children - two girls and two boys born between January 1838 and November 1843. Caroline died April 2, 1893, just three days short of her 76" birthday.
Their sixth child, Vere was born on August 7, 1819, in Guernsey Cove. As an adult, he moved to White Sands where he made his living as a boat build- er. Vere was married twice. His first wife was Margaret Stapleton and they had four children, all born in the 1840s. He married his second wife, Susan Phillips soon after his first wife died. They had two children, both born in the mid- 1860s. Vere died in 1906 and is buried in Murray Harbour.
Samuel was the seventh child. He
